Yanchep
Yanchep is the northern end of the Yanchep train line, in the City of Wanneroo. It combines a growing coastal suburb with Yanchep National Park, which holds the heritage-listed Yanchep Inn.

The housing
The 2021 Census counted 11,022 people in Yanchep, with a median age of 35. Of occupied private dwellings, 97.2 per cent were separate houses, 2.6 per cent were semi-detached, row or terrace houses and townhouses, and 0.2 per cent were flats or apartments. 56.4 per cent were owned with a mortgage, 19.2 per cent were owned outright and 21.8 per cent were rented. The first housing subdivision, at Yanchep Lagoon, was released around 1970 as part of the Yanchep Sun City plan.
Getting around
Yanchep station opened on 14 July 2024 at the end of the 14.5 km extension from Butler. The State Government gives the journey from Yanchep to the Perth CBD as 49 minutes, and says the station has more than 900 parking bays. Check Transperth for current train and bus times.
Education
Yanchep Lagoon Primary School is an Independent Public School, and its local intake area from 2025 takes in parts of Yanchep and Eglinton. The school says the boundary may change as new housing and schools open, so check the Department of Education intake area for a specific address.
Heritage and open space
Yanchep National Park is managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. The City of Wanneroo says its State Heritage registered area includes the Yanchep Inn, Gloucester Lodge and pool, and the Avenue of Trees. The Mary Lindsay Homestead, built in 1926, now operates as a gallery and arts centre.
