The housing

Glendalough is a strata suburb. Most of its dwellings are units, apartments and townhouses, many from the 1970s around Harborne and Cayley Streets, alongside post-war brick and tile houses on the original State Housing Commission blocks.

Parks and open space

Galup and Herdsman Lake regional reserves sit either side of the suburb, so the local parks are only part of the story. Few suburbs this close to town have this much water and open space at the edge of their streets.

Getting around

Glendalough Station is on the Yanchep Line, and the high frequency 990 bus runs between the city and Scarborough Beach via the station. The Mitchell Freeway runs along the suburb’s eastern edge.

Shops and schools

A small shopping centre sits on the corner of Powis and Harborne Streets, with Osborne Park’s larger centres close by. Chrysalis Montessori School is in the suburb.

What is coming

The City of Stirling and the Town of Cambridge plan to upgrade the Jon Sanders Drive, Powis Street and Harborne Street intersection, with new lanes, pedestrian signals and a shared path to the freeway path. The City lists construction from 2027.
